Diploma in Clinical Pastoral Counseling

The Diploma in Clinical Pastoral Counselling (DCPC) is a one-year fulltime program of the Senate of Serampore College offered through Bishop’s College. The program is designed to train all those who have answered the call to participate in the ministry of healing both in church and society. The program integrates both clinical and pastoral perspectives and resources, offering theologically faithful, clinically grounded and contextually sensitive training in counselling.
The course offers a holistic understanding of healing and imparts skills in Pastoral care and counselling. Further, the course offers a systematic, in-depth and intensive training in counselling with the aim of equipping trainees with the necessary counselling skills to take up full-time counselling work both in institutional and church settings. The program consists of number of foundational courses, a 5000-word project and book reviews offering a strong foundational knowledge in counselling. “Learning by doing” is central to the course itself. Students will undergo intensive counselling training supervised by trainers through review of verbatims, case studies and actual counselling interactions. The course offers trainees, the ground for intrapersonal and interpersonal growth and professional competence to do counselling in diverse settings with awareness of diverse contextual challenges to health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
